01 / Set store-wide defaults
Open Settings → Min-Max. Set a default minimum, maximum, and step that apply to every product. Most stores leave the defaults at 1 and 999 and override per product.
02 / Override per product
On any product-edit screen, the Min-Max panel sits below the price fields. Type in the values for that product. Variable products get the same panel per variation.
03 / Write the error message
Set the message customers see when they hit a limit. Use placeholders for the product name, the limit value, and the quantity attempted. Save. Test on the front end.

Yes. Variations get their own min, max, and step. Override the parent product’s defaults per variation, or leave them inheriting.
Yes. The plugin enforces limits at every cart entry point — standard Add to Cart, AJAX cart, quick view, and the express-checkout flows that bypass the product page. The rule holds
